Eighteen years ago, we had a dream: build a modern, authentic drive-in theater so families and friends could enjoy this classic American experience. On August 28, 2009, the Goochland Drive-In Theater premiered to a sold-out crowd.
Since that time, we’ve grown – two screens, special events, private shows, and numerous advances in technology -- but always placing customer service first. As a result, the GDIT has been featured in various rankings as one of the top drive-in theaters in America.
Accolades aside, we are most grateful that the GDIT continues to be a popular destination for so many in Virginia. We’ve become part of the fabric of people’s lives – family outings, date nights, friends night out, corporate events, and even proposals. It is always a privilege to witness families and friends enjoy quality time together while unplugging from the stresses of the world for a few hours.

The GDIT sits on 10 acres immediately off Exit #152 on I-64 - an easy 25 minute drive from both Richmond and Charlottesville. Single-phase and three-phase power is installed. High-speed internet provides trouble-free communications. All facility assets are in excellent condition and professionally maintained.

The GDIT continues its path of growth and popularity. Over the years, we have been approached many times about selling the drive-in. The answer has always been no. However, as life goes on, plans can change.
So after much thought, consultation, and prayer, our family has decided to open the possibility for new ownership of the Goochland Drive-In Theater. While we don’t know how long the process will take, you can rest assured that it will still be business as usual at the GDIT.
